Anne Hathaway: Why CATWOMAN is Far From “Meh”

When the first images of the new Catwoman costume were released, most reviews seemed underwhelmed: no ears, long hair, maybe a little too much Selina in her alter-ego. But when MTV spoke with Anne Hathaway herself, she promised a very different story…Here it is from Time of India:

Actress Anne Hathaway has come to the defence of her Catwoman outfit from the movie ” The Dark Knight Rises”, after initial images received not so great responses from fans.

The first photo of Hathaway in full superhero attire began circulating on blogs, message boards and websites last week, but not everyone was impressed.

“I was not going to admit it: I asked someone to send me a few reactions (to the photo). And I happen to know that Mtv’s reaction was meh,” contactmusic.com quoted the 28-year-old as saying.

“What I am happy to say is, if you didn’t like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do. And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste,” she added.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, the movie also features Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman and is set to release July next year.

Another awesome break-down of the costume can be found at DC Women Kicking Ass, which is a great blog and one you should definitely follow if you’re on Tumblr.

2005 SDCC EXCLUSIVE CATWOMAN RETURNS!

The Batman’s Catwoman has slunk into another robbery and, also, back onto our shelves. With the over-sized goggles and bright red claws that characterized her look on the animated series, which ran from 2004-2008 as a successor to the Bruce Timm-styled series that came before it.

This 5-inch Mattel figure was available exclusively at 2005’s San Diego Comic Con, but we’ve managed to get our hands on a few and we’re offering them up, now. She looks stunning and the design work of the series really comes across here. Grab it now if you’re a fan of the show, or just the character!

Oh, and speaking of Catwoman, here’s a bit from The Examiner

While being presented with the Modern Master Award for ‘Inception’ at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Sunday, director Christopher Nolan briefly spoke on ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ reports Coming Soon/Super Hero Hype.

Moderator Peter Hammond asked Nolan where he got the idea for the title of his third film about the caped crusader, to which Nolan jokingly replied: “I banged my head against the wall.”

After the audience laughed, Nolan gave a serious reply. “We’ve worked on it a long time – David Goyer and myself. We’re about 12 weeks away from shooting. We start in May.”

There have been rumors for years that Nolan is bored with his ‘Batman’ series, and that it’s the studio who continuously prods him to make another entry. It’s said that Nolan was content after ‘Batman Begins,’ and never intended to make a sequel.

When asked why he’s making another film, Nolan said, “It was about finishing the story.”

Nearly two weeks ago, it came out that Anne Hathaway had landed the role of Selina Kyle in the new film. In various forms of media, Kyle’s alter ego is Catwoman, and is a character who goes from antagonist to love interest of Bruce Wayne’s at the bat of an eyelash.

Nolan was asked whether Hathaway would make the transition from Selina Kyle to Catwoman in the new film, but Nolan refused to answer and instead gave a coy smile.

With the recent addition of Tom Hardy as Bane, and Christian Bale reprising his role as Bruce Wayne, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is scheduled for a July 20, 2012 release.

Crisis Averted: Megan Fox NOT cast as Catwoman

UPI puts to rest the rumours that have been flying today regarding Megan Fox’s casting as Catwoman in the third Christopher Nolan Batman film. There’s no doubt Megan’s got looks, but comic fans were definitely doubtful of her acting talent given her lackluster performances in other films. And when you’re acting alongside Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine (just to name a few), you’ve definitely gotta bring more than a pretty face. What we don’t need is another Halle Berry-style Catwoman, which made even big fans of the character cringe. So for all those concerned, here’s the real story:

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26 (UPI) — Hollywood’s Warner Bros. studio is shooting down a report claiming actress Megan Fox has been cast as Catwoman in the next Batman movie.

“It’s rumor. It’s not true,” a studio representative told People.com of the British tabloid report. “There is no script. There is no project to be cast in.”

Fox, 23, is best known for her work in the two “Transformers” blockbusters. Her other film credits include “How to Los Friends & Alienate People” and the upcoming “Jennifer’s Body.”
