Below are the official launch titles for the 3DS.

* Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS
* Nintendogs + Cats
* Pilotwings Resort
* Pro Baseball Spirits

The Other M: Nintendo Fixes the Bug! Plus: Statues!

Nintendo’s new Metrod: Other M is hotly-anticipated and sure to rise to the top as part of their signature franchise, but that’ll have to be after they fix something that’s gone wrong. Here’s a look and the story from Kotaku.

Metroid: The Other M has a game-freezing bug. In Japan, Nintendo has a fix. It involves sending things on a truck.

The bug has been causing players to get stuck in the Section 3 section of the game. Stuck as stuck and not able to get out. It’s a game-breaking bug. Some players are unable to get a door with a red lock open after swinging past three grappling points.

The bug does not affect all players. It is apparently caused when players double back to a save point after defeating an enemy. Players that continue straight ahead do not experience the bug.

In Japan, Nintendo is offering to rectify the problem. The Kyoto-based company is asking players to either send a SD card with their save files or their Wii console (with its 512MB of internal Flash memory) to its service center in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture.

It is not necessary for players to send a copy of their game. Nintendo says it will take a week to fix the game and will cover the cost of shipping.

In an official release, Nintendo humbly apologizes for any trouble this bug has caused.

Kotaku is contacting Nintendo of America to see if a similar program will be offered.

Hopefully, they’ll get a positive response. I know from a bad experience involving an oft-forgotten and underrated game called “Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy” that it’s infuriating to encounter a blocked door and have to start all over again just because you dared to save.

But in some happier or at least lighter Metroid related news, we’ve got a very un-buggy and non-defective statue available that might put a smile on the face of fans! And here she is:

Clad in her skin-tight ZERO SUIT, Samus Aran stands at about 7 inches tall and comes from First For Figures and PBM Express.

PBM Express is extremely proud to present Samus Aran’s Zero Suit, the third collectible statues in First 4 Figures highly anticipated suit series based on Retro Studios Metroid Prime game trilogy. This version is based on the Zero Suit seen at the end of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes. First 4 Figures has used the official game files in order to create an extremely accurate recreation of the Zero Suit. She comes armed with her signature pistol and has curves in all the right places! The Zero Suit was first seen in Metroid: Zero Mission, ending sequences of Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime Hunters, and is making an appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl.Cast in high quality poly-stone, the statue is hand finished and hand painted. Comes packed in a foam interior full colored box with a card of authenticity. Artist: Original Metroid game data with modification by Jiang Di.

Just like Donkey Kong…

…This gorilla seems pretty keen on getting its hands on Mario!

At the San Francisco Zoo yesterday, photographer Christina Spicuzza captured five pictures of gorillas playing around with a DSi XL. They later touched a monolith and used the handheld to slay an eohippus.

I kid! I kid! The story here goes that a kid dropped his DSi XL into the primates’ enclosure, and the larger gorilla seen here picked it up. A younger gorilla came over and asked for it, and was refused.

A zookeeper went in and traded the device for a much more useful apple, giving it back to the kid who dropped it. Spicuzza reports that, despite the fall and some gorilla slobber, the DSi XL still works, like a Samsonite suitcase.

Jazwares’ Sonic collection is already pretty substantial, but as demand stays strong, they’re meeting it by coming out with a bunch of new figures that fans will be pleased to see. It’s been a heck of a long time for Sonic, with a host of successful games, recent Nintendo crossovers and the development of new adventures–not to mention the show. It’s no wonder that this enduring franchise is enjoying a second wind; something with a lifespan like that definitely has a solid fanbase and one that is more than willing to support the Blue Blur as he ages.

Super Mario Mini Figures: 6-figure Box Set

Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Bullet Bill, Bob-Omb and a Goomba make up the new Super Mario 6-Figure Box Set from Nintendo!

Each figure is about 2 inches tall and the clean-cut style and molding of the pieces is great for capturing the looks of Nintendo’s most popular heroes and villains. They’re great for any fan of the games, both old and new, and will not only look awesome when displayed, but pretty much demand to be set up as though they’re all part of a level running across the length of your shelf. In fact, I am going to go ahead and say that I insist you set them up that way.

This box set joins the rest of the Nintendo collection, which you can (and should) check out here.

Mario Kart Wii Figures: Pull-speed and Micro RC toys!

It did seem to take a while, but North America’s finally received the a collection of toys from the massively popular Mario Kart Wii! The Mario Kart Wii figures and vehicles include both pull-speed and RC options and both Mario and the sinister Wario are currently available. The micro remote control Mario is an especially fun choice, including a banana and a red shell to foil any opponents and a spare set of wheels in case that risky driving takes its toll. Definitely a great choice for fans of the game.

Another little bit of good news, though, is the potential arrival of an SNES emulator on the brand new iPad. iSmashPhone shows us through the glory of the classic Super Mario Kart.

Put down the Visine, bunky, your eyes are not deceiving you — that IS SNES Mario Kart running on an iPad, courtesy of emulator guru ZodTTD. So with various iPad jailbreaks already popping up like so many (Mario World!) mushrooms, it may be just a matter of time before you can drop the game ROM and Zod’s snes4iphone emulator onto your pwned ‘Pad and speed away.

BUT WAIT! There’s more! Zod’s claiming he created a “legal” (i.e. no-jailbreak-required) version of the emulator, even going so far as to submit it to the App Store:

The build of snes4iphone running on my iPad as seen in the video was actually based on an AppStore app I submitted called “snesty”. Apple quickly rejected it right after pulling the NES emulator. I combined snesty with some snes4iphone features such as using the private API called CoreSurface. I used Apple developer tools and self signed it.

He also promises a version of the emulator that’ll support the iPad’s 1024 x 768 native resolution and even touchscreen controls.

Finally, if you haven’t gotten your hands on what is, after a few years, still #32 on Amazon’s video game list, here’s a link!
