The New 52 Nightwing steps out of Batman’s shadow

“Batman got all the cool rogues,” good ‘ol Nightwing once pointed out, and we get it — it’s totally his time to shine. Following the events of Flashpoint, Nightwing was re-imagined as part of The New 52 re-vamp. And then, after the return of Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson (formerly Robin) reprises his role as the dynamo Nightwing, shedding a blue emblem for a red one and trading in his skintight suit for full body armor and gauntlet handpieces. It’s clear that he’s back and ready for business, and this makes his new costuming anything but trivial.

Own a piece of the new Nightwing legacy with his New 52 incarnation! He stands six inches tall, ready for display alongside your other DC collectibles. And, hey — after all these years, don’t you think he deserves a bit of a leg up on Batman? We’ve always been down for the underdogs. Snap Nightwing up pronto!

The Dark (K)Nightwing? We'd like to see that one.

DC releases first series of Son of Batman figures

The much-anticipated animated follow-up to Justice League: War was released this past spring, and now DC has another treat for us — the very first wave of Son of Batman collectible figures! Damian Wayne prepares himself to continue his father’s heroic legacy, and necessarily he encounters various obstacles and triumphs along the way. Now, you can bring his journey to life with these four figures.

Batman (pictured below), Deathstroke and Nightwing measure approximately six inches tall, and Robin is almost five inches tall. These guys come in classic blister packaging in the style of the DC Designer series. Snap them up so you can say you were among the first, because these guys could very well be coveted collectors’ prizes one day.

"Damian" sounds much more epic and dark than "Bruce", we have to admit.

Arkham City Nightwing Statue

Arkham City’s advertising and promo materials gave us an incredibly striking style, black and white with slashes of colour to highlight the most notable aspects of the characters. Here, Nightwing’s (pre-New 52) electric blue is the star of the show.

Sculpted by Amos Hemsley, Nightwing (Dick Grayson) features amazing details and stands 8.8 inches tall on a figure stand. He’s a must-have for fans of the best-selling game and a great way to ease the pain of the wait for Arkham Origins. Order now and he ships out in August.

Batman Legacy Previews and Pre-Orders

Check these out! They’re the prototypes for a new series of BATMAN LEGACY figures you can now pre-order!

First Appearance Batman and Catwoman join Arkham City Nightwing and Harley Quinn in the upcoming Series 3. They all look fantastic, the sculpting style and detailing perfectly suited for each character an their respective era. Whether you want something brand new or you’d rather take a trip down memory lane, the Batman Legacy collection’s got something for everyone. These guys will be joining the likes of Mr. Freeze, The Joker and Catman in what has been and will continue to be a pretty amazing figure line.

DC ORIGINS: SERIES 2 ARRIVES

The DC Origins collection is an awesome one not only because it features some very good-looking, well-sculpted figures, but because it brings together a bit of nostalgia with that modern edge, uniting the latest incarnations of superheroes and supervillains with themselves as they were many, many years before in their first appearances. Series 1 brought us Batman, the Joker, Catwoman and Nightwing and they looked very, very cool, so fans of that group will be pleased to see who’s arrived as part of the second series…

DC ORIGINS : SERIES 2

Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash are immortalized in these eight figures, sold in 2-figure sets. The contrasts between new and old are striking, sure to be at the center of discussion when we wonder which costume is truly superior (personally, I think Nightwing upgraded whereas the Green Lantern might actually be slightly cooler in his original and recurring Alan Scott form). You can get all eight figures in a complete set or just order each pack by itself, if you’re after that one beloved character!

DC Origins Figures: Batman, Catwoman and More!

I’ve always been a DC fan. Marvel’s great, there are a ton of cool characters, but if I’ve gotta pick one, I’ve gotta go with good old Detective Comics. And once there, I zero in on one hero: Batman. So I am definitely pleased that both Batman and DC are being so fondly represented in DC Direct’s new line, DC Origins: Batman.

Sold in packs of two, the figures are renderings of first-appearance characters paired with their current or more modern incarnations. Batman leads the pack, but he is joined by arch-nemesis Joker, who rivals Batsy for least-changed of the group, femme fatale Catwoman and former-Robin-gone-solo, Nightwing, who decided at some point to stop rocking the disco collar.

Grab the packs individually or as a set by heading over to our DC Origins section or clicking one of the links below!

While we are on the subject of Batman….I would recommend that you pick up one of the better video games of the year: Batman Arkham Asylum.
