Satisfy your taste for horror with Sleepy Hollow’s Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane

Hot Toys and Sideshow have brought us this next installation in their Movie Masterpiece series, this Sixth Scale, 12-inch Ichabod Crane! A staple of the American fiction canon since 1820, Sleepy Hollow was revived with Tim Burton’s 1999 film production by the same name. The fantasy horror treated viewers to spine-chilling intrigue, and now you can get your detective on in real life.

Tasked with stopping the treacherous Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane is as eccentric as he is clever. Crafted based on the image of Johnny Depp in the Burton film, this incarnation of Crane is one you can’t miss out on. He is available to ship out right now, so order Ichabod Crane today!

From Fleet Street to your display shelf comes SWEENEY TODD, the murderous barber of the stage show and Tim Burton’s 2007 film. This version is evidently based on the film, where Johnny Depp portrayed the eponymous Todd. Depp has had his share of action figures and models, from Edward Scissorhands to Jack Sparrow to the Mad Hatter and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but this is definitely the most villainous of his action figure counterparts.

It’s a welcome addition from Sideshow, of course, because it looks just stunning and captures both the character and his capable actor just perfectly. Plus, it comes with the boobytrapped chair and the perfect backdrop to make this really stand out.

Alice and the Mad Hatter Figures Arrive!

Alice and the Mad Hatter are the first two figures from Disney and Tim Burton’s re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland. They’re six inch figures and manufactured by Medicom Toys, which essentially means that you can expect extremely high detail and a pretty stunning paint job, too. Known for their talent for likenesses, Medicom seems the perfect studio to bring Tim Burton’s vision from 3-D vision to three more tangible dimensions. Heck, just look at the label right there: ULTRA DETAIL FIGURE. So enjoy. The movie itself was a massive success, though critics didn’t seem to agree with audiences: it may have had something to do with the fact that even the most casual Tim Burton fan would probably think Alice in Wonderland to be the ultimate playground for the director’s imagination, but the end result was almost too polished and CGI-laden. Not to mention the fact that some are beginning to tire of his use (overuse?) of wife Helena Bonham-Carter and best friend Johnny Depp. But again, despite complaints, the movie definitely raked in the bucks and I’ve no doubt that whatever Burton and/or Depp roll out next will be just as big.

And if you’re looking for the film, you can snag that, too, over at Amazon.com!

Sexiest Man Alive: JOHNNY DEPP

On Monday, a terrifying post was made on the amazing celebrity gossip blog, OhNoTheyDidn’t!. Linking back to a relatively unknown blog, it claimed that the cover for People’s annual “Sexiest Man Alive” had been leaked and it had gone to none other than Twilight’s Robert Pattinson.

Terror and rage ensued as literally thousands of comments came in to protest the choice. It was sheer madness and anger expressed through animated gifs.

But more astute members soon realized that it was all for naught. The cover showed some very poor design choices and a blurred font that the folks at People were probably a little too practiced to use without fear of losing their jobs in the graphics department. It didn’t take long for everyone to then see that the leaked cover was nothing but a slap-dash photoshop made either by a nutty fan or someone who knew exactly what kind of reaction a Twilight cover would get!

It almost makes you feel bad for the real cover boy, Johnny Depp, whose win (his 2nd) was met with fewer cheers than relieved sighs. Anyone but RPattz!

Rob Marshall to Direct Pirates of the Caribbean 4?

Jack Sparrow fans rejoice! There seems to be some real progress being made on the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Though the last one may have been squared away for Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, it seems that Captain Jack’s got a lot more sea-faring in his future under new helmsman Rob Marshall! Here’s the story straight from MoviesOnline.ca

Ever since Gore Verbinski bowed out of directing Pirates of the Carribean 4 to work on his Bioshock movie we have all been wondering who would be tapped to direct. Wonder no more. According to Variety Chicago director Rob Marshall has been tapped to helm the franchise. Pirates of the Carribean has made DISNEY 2.6Billion and in tapping Rob Marshall they are clearly taking this one in a new direction.

Instead of Pirates, Verbinski is putting his time into some other of his own projects such as ‘Bioshock’, an adaptation of the bestselling videogame for Universal Pictures. John Logan (Sweeney Todd) has written the script and this is expected to be Verbinski’s next job.

Verbinski’s Blind Wink Prods. is also developing a bunch of other potential projects for him to direct, including ‘Clue’, a murder mystery based on the best-selling board game, and even a drama based upon a Wall Street Journal Article following the online fantasy role playing world and it’s impact on the lives of the players. It sounds like Verbinski will be busy for a long time to come, so there’s no way for Disney to even delay Pirates to get him on board.

“I had a fantastic time bringing ‘Pirates’ to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team,” Verbinski said. “I’m looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future.”

Currently, Verbinski is still working with Depp, actually. He’s been directing a CG animated film for Paramount called ‘Rango’, and Depp is the voice of the lead. Again Logan wrote this script on an idea from Verbinski and has a March 2011 release date set currently.
