The new year means many things — food hangovers, stowed-away holiday party clothes, abandoned gym memberships — but for 2015, one of them is the first wave of the Marvel Universe Avengers Infinite Series! This collection includes a whopping nine figures, which you can pre-order right now to own next month.
Hasbro’s created these guys in 3.75-inch-tall format, including a Jim Lee Beast, Grey Beast variant with George Perez head, Black Cat, Big-Time Spider-Man, Bishop and Sandman, among others. They were announced way back in July at the San Diego Comic-Con, but now we can finally get our hands on them! Pre-order yours as a set now to keep yourself and your post-holiday wallet happy.
Start off your new year right with the first wave of Marvel Infinite Series Avengers for 2015.
Leaning casually on an open safe (revealing the gold bars within), Black Cat is a stunner as a 17-inch Sideshow statue. Beyond the gorgeous curves and sculpting, the figure also boasts an extremely impressive real fabric costume. She makes an outstanding addition to any Marvel fan’s display case.
Origin of Captain Britain:
Born and raised in the small town of Maldon, Essex and educated at Fettes College in Edinburgh, Brian was a shy and studious youth, living a relatively quiet life and spending a lot of time with his parents and siblings (older brother Jamie and fraternal twin Elizabeth). The family were an aristocratic one who were no longer rich enough to fraternise with their former academic peers, leaving Brian (too proud to fraternise with lower classes) a lonely child who immersed himself in the study of physics.
After the death of his parents (Sir James and Lady Elizabeth) in what seemed to be a laboratory accident, Brian takes a fellowship at Darkmoor nuclear research centre. When the facility is attacked by the technological criminal Joshua Stragg (alias “The Reaver”), Brian tries to find help by escaping on his motorcycle. Although he crashes his bike in a nearly fatal accident, Merlyn and his daughter, the Omniversal Guardian, Roma appear to the badly injured Brian. They give him the chance to be the superhero Captain Britain. He is offered a choice: the Amulet of Right or the Sword of Might. Considering himself to be no warrior and unsuited for the challenge, he rejects the Sword and chooses the Amulet. This choice transforms Brian Braddock into Captain Britain.
There is a Marvel Legends figure of Captain Britain and we are expecting a new 3.75 inch figure of him from the upcoming Captain America Movie Figures which is supposed to be released in June of 2011.
For anyone unlucky enough to miss these figures the first time around, we’ve just gotten a re-stock on four of the most popular items from our Marvel Select collection. Check ’em out!
THANOS Marvel Select Figure
“Cosmic Villain” Thanos sold out quickly, likely due to the renewed interest in Iron Man brought by the film (Thanos featured heavily in a number of IM storylines). Or maybe it’s because his incredible powers and insanely muscular design are just the thing, it seems, that comic book and action figure collectors are seeking.
Dr. Doom Marvel Select Figure
The unfortunately-named Victor Von Doom, arch nemesis of the Fantastic Four, is one of Marvel’s best-known villains and it’s no surprise that collectors are after every Doom figure they can get their hands on. He’s got a cool design and this Marvel Select rendering is particularly nice, even featuring an interchangeable hand for when he needs to celebrate with a goblet of something from his evil vineyard.
Captain America Marvel Select Figure
Everybody loves an unmasked variant, but there’s just something special about the classic design of a character and those tend to be the ones that fly off the shelves first. Fortunately, we’ve now restocked everyone’s favourite American hero and you can snag Captain America once again!
Black Cat Marvel Select Figure
Well, there are some things that don’t need any analysis: why was this sold out? Because hot action figures of women in tight costumes are always the first to go. Here’s a Black Cat re-stock for anyone who missed the first round.
For those who find action figure joints bulky or distracting and prefer a brilliant statue, look no further than Sideshow’s Marvel Collection. Known for their incredibly sculpting and high detail, these never disappoint. Here’s a look at three of the best ones out there:
Now available for pre-order, we’ve got this brand new Elektra comiquette that brings the heroine to life in every way the film failed to. As beautiful as she is deadly, this statue captures her in action as she attacks an unseen foe with her shining sai. She ships in the first quarter of 2010.
From the world of Awesome superhero mashups comes Iron Spider-Man, a rendering of Tony Stark’s amazing Spider-Man costume from Spider-Man: The Other. Sideshow has captured the brilliance and the power of the new look perfectly and made this a great piece for anyone who loved the Marvel arc.
One of the most sought-after comiquettes around, Adam Hughes’ vinyl-clad Black Cat slinks into the ‘Christeby’s’ warehouse to pilfer some valuable prizes. Black Cat’s comiquette looks as amazing as any of Hughes’ incredible pieces and has become very difficult to find lately, much like its comic book counterpart. She’s available here as a basic comiquette, but for collectors, we’ve also got the convention exclusive with limited-edition Adam Hughes control print.
