Marvel Comics is the next great property to get Kotobukiya’s ARTFX+ statue treatment and so of course the first series is none other than the Avengers, specifically the characters as they appear in Marvel Now. For the very first Avengers ARTFX+ release. well, he’s big, he’s green and he’s always angry. it’s the HULK! Bruce Banner was a scientist studying the effects of gamma radiation when he was caught in an explosion. Rather than destroy him the energies transformed him into the massive green-skinned Hulk! The Avenger stands in a classic comic book pose, angled to the side and leaning forward with his arms outstretched. The Hulk has his leading hand open as though to taunt his enemies, though his right hand behind him is balled into a fist to deliver a mighty blow! The Hulk is fantastically detailed with intricate musculature down to his sinews and veins and the harsh grimace on his face shows off the rage he can’t keep bottled up in battle. Banner’s alter ego wears his traditional tattered purple pants (no Hulk would be complete without them) and his skin is expertly painted with varying shades of green. The massive Hulk stands just barely under 10 Inch tall (in the ARTFX+ 1/10th scale) on his included magnetic display base. Hulk will be joined by his fellow Avengers with upcoming releases Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, so get him to begin your collection!
Expected Release Date: May 2014

We just took off work (don’t worry, we packed up all the orders before we left) and watched the Avengers movie this afternoon. It was a very good Marvel movie. Audiences have rated it an extremely high 9.0 on IMDB, and 96% of critics like it or love it. I could definitely watch this awesome flick again, expect significant repeat viewings after a huge weekend opening.
Who is my favorite character? Legolas….no, I meant Hawkeye.
**SPOILER ALERT** The Avengers end credit scene introduces us to Thanos, who smiles when he’s told that to attack Earth is to “court death”. Thanos in the comics is fascinated with death and nihilism. He kills millions on his home planet with nuclear bombardment before travelling to earth. He is capable of superhuman strength and can absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, enough to obliterate planets. His most famous storyline sees him gain possession of the Infinity Gauntlet, recently glimpsed in the Thor movie (in Odin’s trophy room). Each gem of that gauntlet grants its bearer complete mastery over one aspect of the universe: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, or Power. We know that Thanos is not a villain in Iron Man 3, and appears unlikely for Thor 2. So it’s fairly safe to assume the set up is for the next Avengers movie. So maybe exepct to see Warlock somewhere too….
