Two follow-ups to Lex Luthor’s face-off against Skeletor have now arrived in our DC 2-Pack collection! No longer a battle between Evil and “Just as evil”, we’ve reached another level of awesome with some new faces:
AQUAMAN VERSUS MER-MAN wage a battle beneath the waves. This whole collection just screams “fan-service” and yet it does so in the greatest possible way, satisfying all the geeks who have ever wanted to play out a round of “Who would win in a fight?” between the DC Universe and the Masters of the Universe. Each figure stands about 6 or 7 inches tall and comes ready with a signature weapon!
If you want to take the war to the skies, of course, that option is also available in the HAWKMAN vs. STRATOS set!
The Valkyrie vs. Green Hulk 2-pack has arrived in our Marvel Legends Face-Off Twin Packs collection! The 6-inch Valkyrie figure, which comes with the weaponry you would expect in the capable hands of an Asgardian warrior woman, stands off against the monstrous Hulk!
Empowered and driven mad by Asgardian magic, Samantha Parrington attacked the Hulk. The fight that resulted was a battle for the ages. For blocks around, concrete was shattered by the concussive force of their blows. Both combatants staggered away from that fight with little memory of what had actually occurred. Later, as Samantha gained full control of her incredible powers, she joined the Hulk as a member of the Defenders.
You might remember our post about the SUPERMAN and SUPERGIRL 2-Pack! And now, I’m pleased to say that the formerly pre-orderable figure set has now arrived!
If you’re a fan of the late, great Michael Turner or his collaboration with Jeph Loeb on SUPERMAN/BATMAN: SUPERGIRL, then be sure to snag this new set, which includes a reprint of the epic, 168-page graphic novel!
The Mark Sanchez and Shonn Green 2-Pack joins the growing collection of McFarlane NFL SportsPicks Exclusives and Box Sets over in our NFL section over at CmdStore.com!
The Jets teammates look stunning, near-perfect miniatures of their real far-from-miniature selves and posed as they might appear on the field, caught mid-action in dynamic poses. As per usual, they stand roughly 6 inches tall (give or take a bit) and make excellent additions to any display shelf whether you remove them from the packaging to stand on their replica field sections or keep them in their window box, which itself is optimized for showing off the figures. Either way, they’re available on the site now, so check ’em out!
Every so often, a story comes along that really redefines a character, bringing to the page a tale that is both new and yet instantly classic. Such was the case with Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s All-Star Superman, which originally ran between 2005 and 2008 and tells one of the most brilliant character-driven Superman stories written since the hero’s creation 1938. If you’re a fan of the work, then you might be pleased to know that DC Direct has just given a release date for two new figures that you can pre-order now.
Standing 6 inches tall, the 2-pack features both Superman and his backwards nemesis, Bizarro Superman, whose appearance and demeanour make him the complete opposite of the good-natured, handsome hero. Both are impressively sculpted and loyal to Quitely’s unusual and striking style.
Best of all, even if you haven’t read the story, the figures come with a new edition of the 160-page All-Star Superman Volume 1. It also makes a great reread or fans or a great new copy to pass around in order and convert the uninitiated into a love of Clark Kent.
The All-Star Superman and Bizarro 2-pack can be pre-ordered now and will be shipping in January of 2011.
And in other Supes news, Metropolis Illinois just unveiled its tribute to the Man of Steel in the form of a statue of Superman’s lady love Lois Lane, based on Noel Niell’s portrayal of the Daily Planet reporter.
