Love it or hate it, it looks like the New 52′s Wonder Woman/Superman pairing is here to stay. We’re just going to have to live with it. And maybe learn to enjoy it. Or, if we already love it, pick up this statue:

A kiss shared above the clouds, this statue showcases both heroes’ new designs and brings them together beautifully, with incredible sculpting and positioning giving an elegant, intimate impression to the onlooker. It’s a stunner at 14 inches high and is based on the classic art of Jim Lee.

Wonder Woman Bust Bank

Wonder Woman looks pretty disappointed in you, so maybe you ought to be a little better about saving your pennies in this DCU bust bank. Measuring about 9 inches high and made from roto-cast plastic, she’ll protect your loose change without getting too heavy.

2011: A Rough Year for DC Women

January 8, 2012

Over at the phenomenal blog DC Women Kicking Ass, there’s a great, if depressing, countdown of the unpleasantness (and outright disrespect) that has been the fate of many of DC’s women in this, the year of the reboot.

If you’re a fan of DC Comics, if you believe in equality or if you just want to keep your finger on the pulse and know which DC women are kicking ass when, then you should definitely check this out. It’s a great list and might hold the key to pinpointing exactly what has to change in 2012, as we move closer to a comicverse that is as inclusive as possible.

NEW 52 WONDER WOMAN

January 8, 2012

Two things we’re happy about: first, that the jacket/pants combo is gone and, second, that she’s moved toward these muted-yet-stunning colours. The design is classic and the added bonus of musculature befitting a superhero makes this one of the finest renderings of the character in recent years. Take a look:

Based on her design in DC’s New 52, it’s a great figure for any fans of one of DC’s greatest characters.

“JUSTICE LEAGUE: DOOM”‘S AWESOME CAST

October 2, 2011

IGN has some really great news for Justice League fans! Have a read:

The first DC Universe Animated Original Movie of 2012, Justice League: Doom, will bring back Nathan Fillion and Tim Daly as the voice of Green Lantern and Superman respectively, Warner Home Video has announced. The film will also feature a reunion of the voice actors from the animated TV series Justice League Unlimited, including veteran Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy once again taking on the Dark Knight, Michael Rosenbaum as Flash, Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman and Carl Lumbly as J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter. Bumper Robinson joins the cast as Cyborg.

According to the official description, Justice League: Doom finds the heroes on their heels when a team of super villains discover and implement the Dark Knight’s “contingency plans” for stopping any rogue Justice League member. The story is inspired by Mark Waid’s much-heralded JLA: Tower of Babel.

Fillion, a fan-favorite choice who lost out to Ryan Reynolds in last summer’s live-action Green Lantern movie, finally got to play the role of Hal Jordan in the recent DC Universe movie Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. It was actually his second time voicing a character from the DCU on home video; he also played Steve Trevor in the 2008 hit Wonder Woman.

Daly first provided the voice for Superman in the landmark cartoon, Superman: The Animated Series. He went on to play him twice more, in 2009′s Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and 2010′s Superman/Batman: Apocalypse.

The all-star casting also extends to the villains in the film. Three alumni of the Justice League animated series will reprise their roles – Phil Morris (Smallville, Seinfeld) as Vandal Savage, Olivia d’Abo (The Wonder Years) as Star Sapphire and Alexis Denisof (Angel) as Mirror Master. Newly added villains include Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911) as Bane, Paul Blackthorne (The Dresden Files) as Metallo, and Claudia Black (Farscape, Stargate SG-1) as Cheetah. David Kaufman (Danny Phantom) also reprises his Justice League role of Jimmy Olsen.

The film is executive produced by Bruce Timm (Batman: Year One), and directed by Lauren Montgomery (Batman: Year One), who is also credited as producer alongside Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series). Justice League: Doom is the final script from the late Dwayne McDuffie (All-Star Superman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths). Casting and dialogue direction is once again in the capable hands of Andrea Romano (Batman: Year One).

Warner Home Video will premiere the Justice League: Doom trailer during its presentation at New York Comic Con on Friday, Oct.14 in our own IGN Theater. Also premiering during that session will be the Catwoman animated short attached to Batman: Year One, the next DC Universe Animated Movie (due out on October 18).
