Harry Potter fan? Then get thee to New York City and take part in this weekend’s epic QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP. Hosted by the International Quidditch Association, it’s going to be big. Very big.
On November 13 and 14, 2010, 46 official Quidditch teams from around the world – a total of 757 athletes – will descend on New York City for the Fourth Annual Quidditch World Cup. The teams are from 42 colleges and universities, three high schools, and one local community team, all from the USA and Canada. The tournament is free and open to the public. There will be live entertainment in the form of local New York City drummers, dancers, fire-breathers, a capella choirs, and live owls from New York sanctuary groups. The event is very family-friendly, and the park has a dog-run and playground in addition to the astroturf fields where competition will be taking place.
