The Walking Dead – Bloody Black and White Zombie 3-Pack
December 3, 2012That’s a mouthful!
The bloody black and white zombie 3-pack is a fantastic new addition to the Walking Dead merch collection and it’s one that real zombie fans are sure to enjoy, down to every last gory detail.
The Bicycle Girl might be the most famous of the show’s undead set, but the Well Zombie and the RV Zombie definitely gave us some memorable –and unpleasant– moments, as well. Here, they’re rendered in a classic, creepy black and white, but the blood and gore retain their colour as grisly highlights.
The Walking Dead: Black and White Zombie Box Set
September 12, 2012If you’re a zombie fan, you’ll triple your undead goodness with this Walking Dead box set, rendered in classic black and white.
From McFarlane toys, you get Hannah (a.k.a. Bicycle Girl), the well zombie and the RV zombie. Each one features truly grisly detail, some charming accessories and a wee bit of articulation– you can’t blame ‘em not being too flexible, really. They’re dead.
MICHONNE – BLOODY VARIANT
July 24, 2012With a hood and tools bloodied from her encounters with the walking dead, MICHONNE comes to us direct from the San Diego Comic Con.
Armed with a katana and some unlikely (and sort of likely) tools, Michonne looks awesome as a 5-inch figure from McFarlane. While you’re waiting for Season 3 of the show to bring Danai Gurira’s take on the character, you can at least snag this toy and use it as a daily reminder of how awesome you could be if you were a little more like Michonne.
McFarlane, Hines Ward and The Dark Knight Rises
May 30, 2012Remember this awesome Dark Knight Rises trailer?
Well, that runner wasn’t just a stuntman–it was the real deal, HINES WARD. And in celebration of his superhero movie moment, the folks at McFarlane are releasing an awesome new figure.

USA Today has the full story:
While many haven’t seen The Dark Knight Rises yet, a lot of people have seen Ward’s major scene: Shown in the first trailer, Ward — as a member of Gotham City‘s team, the Rogues — is racing for the end zone when the villainous Bane (Tom Hardy) sets off a bomb in the stadium, sending all his would-tacklers from the Rapid City Monuments to their doom. (The scene was filmed at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh last summer.)
“They haven’t told me whether when Hines does his spike and touchdown dance he falls into the pit. But at least on the trailer he’s looking pretty good,” McFarlane says with a laugh.
“If he dies in the movie, then you will have in your hand the last moment of him in his celluloid cameo appearance. This could be your Citizen Kane right here depending on how it goes down.”
Mattel is releasing the majority of the Dark Knight Rises toys, and usually when a big movie like that comes out, “there usually isn’t any sliver for us to chase after,” McFarlane admits. But he had conversations with Warner Bros. and they worked out a way to release a piece with “a cool unique factor.”
He won’t go so far as to say a Hines Ward figure is better than a Batman one, though.
“My perfect world would be that every toy license when it gets signed has one caveat that says, ‘And McFarlane gets to make one figure,’ ” McFarlane says. “I’d love to do one Spider-Man and one Luke Skywalker and one Batman and one Transformer.”
McFarlane jumped at the chance to do the Dark Knight Rises figure, but they didn’t have time to create an all-new sculpt. Luckily, though, he has done lots of football and a few other Hines Ward figures before the one-time Dancing with the Stars winner retired from the NFL in March, so McFarlane had a few options on what wide-receiver template to use.
The figure is clad in the black-and-yellow Rogues garb from the movie, and even sports Ward’s real-life tattoo on his right arm.
“Even though this is just taken out of a movie that’s ‘make-believe,’ the person playing that role isn’t,” McFarlane says. “If he tapes his hands a certain way or has tattoos or wears certain jewelry, we try as much as we can to grab all that, besides the easy obvious stuff.”
McFarlane is releasing his latest wave of football figures this fall including high-profile rookies Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III plus Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow in their new team uniforms.
McFarlane hopes that the Dark Knight Rises Hines Ward figure will appeal to those sports fans as well as people who are interested in his geekier stuff.
“Given that there’s a ton of Steelers fans out there — and we’ve sold lots of Hines Wards over the years — we’re hoping that the Batman completists will want it,” he says, “and then all the Pittsburgh fans who go, ‘Hey, Hines Ward! I don’t care what he’s wearing, he could be wearing boxer shorts for all we care!’ And if that works, then maybe I’ll be doing (Troy) Polamalu dandruff figures after that.”
Todd McFarlane still has yet to do a Batman toy after nearly 20 years, but he is getting to make another popular figure, Gotham City-style.
McFarlane Toys will be releasing a special figure in November of former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward in his Gotham Rogues uniform, which he wears in a cameo in the upcoming Batman flick The Dark Knight Rises (out July 20).
The toy will bring together two loves for McFarlane. He has been drawing comic books since the 1980s, became an instant legend illustrating Spider-Man, created Spawn and helped found Image Comics in 1992. A couple of years later, he started McFarlane Toys, which continues to produce action figures based on hockey, baseball, basketball and football stars.

Vancouver Canucks’ Roberto Luongo willing to waive no-trade clause
April 24, 2012
Article by Elliot Pap, Vancouver Sun
VANCOUVER — Roberto Luongo said today he will waive his no-trade clause if Vancouver Canucks management feels this is the best move for the team.
Luongo, 33, has been the Canucks’ No. 1 goalie for six seasons but was replaced by 26-year-old Cory Schneider for the final three games of the playoffs. Luongo has 10 years and roughly $47 million remaining on his long-term contract. Schneider, meanwhile, is finishing a two-year deal in which he was paid $900,000 per season. He is in line for an extremely large raise.
“Yeah, of course, if they ask me to,” Luongo replied when queried about his appetite to waive the no-trade clause. “I don’t want to be one of those guys who is going to stand in the way of anything. I always want to put the team ahead of me. I don’t want to be one of those selfish guys.
“Obviously they have a guy here who is going to be a superstar in this league for the next 10, 12, 15 years so I’m okay with it. It is a business and that’s the way it goes. I’ve loved being here the last six years. If I’m here in the future, then great. If I’m not, that’s good also.”
Luongo said the next move is up to the team. He has already met with GM Mike Gillis and they plan to meet again.
“Even though I have a no-trade, it is not my decision,” Luongo continued. “It’s a very unique circumstance, I think, that we’re in where we have an elite young guy who is up and coming and is probably going to dominate the league for many years. So I’m not sure what I would do if I was GM.
“I’ve learned over the course of my career that things change quickly,” he added. “With anything, you don’t want to look too far ahead because life has a lot of curve balls.”
As I have stated on this blog, I have met Roberto at the Keg in the Old Montreal, and he is a super classy down to earth guy. We wish the best for Roberto where ever he goes.
