MARK BROOKS’ SCARLET WITCH by SIDESHOW

August 28, 2010

Sideshow’s new Scarlet Witch comiquette, based on the art of Mark Brooks is the latest addition to our Marvel Sideshow collection. Coming in at a whopping 17.5 inches, the figure is a beautiful rendering of yet another of Marvel’s gorgeous super-powered women. Scarlet Witch looks incredible wearing her classic red (well, scarlet) costume over dangerous curves cast in high-quality polystone. A playful element is added as she toys with a remote, controlling a miniature remote-controlled Vision, her android beloved.

Another comiquette that might interest X-Men fans is the upcoming 17-inch Pyslocke, shipping in the 4th quarter of this year and pre-orderable now!

Pre-order: SPIDER-MAN “Back in Black”

August 24, 2010

From the wiki“Spider-Man: Back in Black” by J. Michael Straczynski and illustrated by Ron Garney (penciler), Bill Reinhold (inker), Matt Milla (colorist) and VC’s Cory Petit (letterer) was published in the comic book series The Amazing Spider-Man #539-543. The story takes place immediately after Marvel’s Civil War event and what happened to Spider-Man, Mary Jane Watson, and Aunt May in after the event. The story is about Spider-Man’s anger and determination to find Aunt May’s shooter. Hence, he wears the black suit, modeled after the alien symbiote, to emphasize his humorless aggression. He is often seen in action without his mask on, as well, showing his rage and thirst for vengeance.

Spider-Man: Back in Black is the latest item from the brilliant designers and sculptors at Sideshow in collaboration with Marvel. The black-suited Spider-Man is a fan favourite, representing a darker side of Peter Parker, and this 11-inch is sure to please many. Smoothly crafted to perfectly capture the sleek look of his costume, it makes a great addition to any display shelf. You can pre-order it now and expect it to ship later this month!

Marvel and Sideshow’s HULKBUSTER IRON MAN

August 14, 2010

Wearing the most powerful version of his suit ever made, Tony Stark stands ready to take on the Incredible Hulk in this stunning new comiquette from Marvel and Sideshow.

Built for the day when friends turn into foes, the Hulkbuster suit turns Iron Man into a force equal or greater in power to the mean, green fighting machine that is the transformed Bruce Banner. And this Sideshow statue captures all the power of Iron Man’s newest design in a 21-inch package that is as impressive on your toyshelf as it likely was when Stark rolled it out.

As with all of the Sideshow statue, the Hulkbuster Iron Man is handpainted, sculpted and molded to exacting standards and represents some of the most brilliant comic book figure work on sale today. Check out the whole collection of Marvel/Sideshow collaborations here.

San Diego Comic Con 2010: PICTURES!

July 29, 2010

Well, I’ve just gotten back from San Diego and I’m very pleased to say that it was an absolute blast, if a little lighter on actual comic content than I’m used to. Really, though, I suppose it’s just the way of things that TV and movies seem to have officially taken precedence over the comic book stuff and at least it’s bringing people into the show where they’ll discover the stuff they might have missed out on! Plus, with movies like Red and shows like The Walking Dead, it’s further proof that there’s a symbiotic relationship between the media forms and that is definitely a good thing.

But without further ado, I’ll get to the meat of this post, THE PICTURES! Take a look at some of the cool items, set pieces and costumes from the biggest con in the world!

And if you want a little more, be sure to check out our previous post on SDCC EXCLUSIVES!

Hot Toys and Sideshow’s T-1000 as Sarah Conner figure

July 16, 2010

Hey, it’s Sarah Conner! Or…is it? This Hot Toys and Sideshow collaboration makes it a tough question to answer until you take a look at the accessories (and we will in just a minute). Looking every bit like Sarah, the T-1000 puts on a pretty good poker face in this figure and passes perfectly. But, of course, it’s tougher to keep that poker face when somebody goes and puts a bullet through your shape-shifting head (included!). It’s a figure made as an Asian exclusive by Hot Toys, but they were awesome enough to let Sideshow import a bunch to North America and Terminator fans should be pleased. Here’s a look at what this great new item is boasting…

* Authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor disguised by T-1000 in the movie Terminator 2
* Newly sculpted head with movie-accurate facial expression, detailed wrinkles and skin texture
* Real fabric hair implantation in blonde long straight hair style
* Muscular rubber arm enhancing her forcefulness
* Detachable magnetic bullet holes at waist and on the back
* Approximately 28 cm tall
* 28 points of articulations
* Two pairs of interchangeable palms (one pair of relaxed palms; one pair for holding guns)
* Two extra right palms (one for holding knife and one for cigarette)
* Each piece of head sculpt is specially hand-painted
* Enhanced tactical load bearing vest with four magazine pouches
* Tank top
* Pants with tactical belt and pouches
* Combat Boots
* Another pair of metalic boots melted and attached to figure stand

* Newly developed and specially designed square-shaped figure stand with four extra triangles, which can be attached to the four sides of square to build a larger stand OR the four triangles can be put together to form another square-shaped stand OR the four triangles can be put together to form another square-shaped stand!

And if that’s not enough, be sure to check out our complete Terminator collection by Sideshow and Hot Toys!

Sideshow’s Iron Man 2 Mini-Bust

July 14, 2010

If there is one thing to be grateful for in seemingly all of Sideshow’s Iron Man offerings, it’s that they haven’t been afraid to go the extra mile, be awesome and make sure that every item is true to the character’s literal brilliance by using LEDs to light up the eyes and arc reactor. It gives the figure something that truly captures the spirit of the character and the look that Jon Favreau’s films have achieved. Now Sideshow brings us a new addition to the collection with the same awesome features, but priced so that even casual fans can get in on the collecting. Presenting the Iron Man Mark IV 9.5-inch bust:

A truly impressive item, the metallic paintwork is stunning, as are the light-up effects, and the whole build of the statue presents a kind of quiet power that is the antithesis of the man behind the mask, billionaire playboy Tony Stark (Robert Downy Jr. in the films). This item is available for pre-order now and ships in June while its counterpart, the similarly-sized War Machine Bust (see below) ships in the 3rd quarter of this year.

War Machine

They’re just two of a huge collection of Marvel Sideshow collectibles ranging from Carnage to Psylocke, Silver Surfer to Emma Frost, Captain America to Ghost Rider and many, many more. Check ‘em all out!

Sideshow Presents: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

July 13, 2010

Miss the good old days? Where you could open the comic books, turn on the TV or go to the movies and see a band of young, New York-based, Italian-named, quasi-amphibious reptiles use their Ninja skills to fight crime? Well, don’t worry retro-readers, because those days are back and beyond the media, they’ve being recognised by the brilliant sculptors at Sideshow as new Comiquette statues. In fact, here’s a look at the tough-as-nails RAPHAEL:

He’s already available, wielding his sai and crouched atop a skyscraper, ready for action. Standing about 12 inches tall and brilliantly sculpted and painted, he’s the first of the four turtles to be brought back in this collection, but two of the others are already available for pre-order. Here they are, shipping in the 4th and 3rd quarters respectively!

Terminator 2′s T-800 from Sideshow

July 13, 2010

Arnold Schwarzenegger created an iconic character in James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which itself was a great triumph. It was a breakthrough film in terms of special effects and technology and paved the way for so many of the CG-rich movies we have today. In honour of all it did and to commemorate the Terminator before he became the Governator, Sideshow has released a brilliant 12-inch figure that fans of the film are sure to love.

Because it’s Sideshow, you can expect the T-800 to not only be striking, brilliantly sculpted and an excellent piece of movie memorabilia, but to come with a ton of accessories that round it out. Here’s the list:

* Newly developed rubber upper body with PVC material limbs and over 30 points of articulation
* Two pairs of interchangeable hands
* One pair of interchangeable endoskeleton forearms
* Figure base with T-800 nameplate and ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ movie logo
* Gun
* Detailed costume including black faux-leather jacket and belt with buckle, jeans, grey T-shirt and black boots
* Gold rose box with 6 red roses
* Sunglasses
