Eli Manning is Super Bowl XLVI Most Valuable Player MVP

Eli Manning and the New York Giants saved their very best for the fourth quarter to emerge with an epic 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI Sunday in Indianapolis. It was a great game.

Manning also was the MVP in 2008, when he threw a scoring pass in the final minute to help New York upset New England and ruin the Patriots’ bid for a perfect season. Manning now is one of only five players in NFL history with multiple Super Bowl MVP awards.

The halftime show was also interesting. Someone was really naughty.

There wasn’t a wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl halftime show, but there was a lewd act by one of the performers … and it wasn’t Madonna.

M.I.A., who joined Madonna on stage in Lucas Oil Stadium to help sing ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’,’ appeared to flip the middle finger to the camera as the song came to a dirty word, which she stopped short of saying.

But as you can clearly see in the photo above, instead of saying the word, M.I.A. “flips the bird” toward the camera — and the millions watching on NBC at home. NBC was apparently late on its delay and allowed the act to be broadcast — at least in some areas.

Sorry Ben….but its not in the stars. The Green Bay Packers are the Super Bowl champions. It is their 4th Super Bowl win. Aaron Rodgers played a great game. Vince Lombardi would have been proud. Let’s hope Brett Favre doesn’t come out of retirement now…

Troy Polamalu can win a game for you

Over the past two weeks, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu has essentially beaten the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals single-handedly. Okay, okay, okay…football is the ultimate team sport and great coaches make great players, but I don’t think it’s controversial to say that Polamalu contributed to these victories as much as any non-quarterback could hope to.

Two weeks ago, with about three minutes left in a tightly-contested divisional matchup, Polamalu lined up outside Baltimore left tackle Michael Oher and went in untouched to strip-sack quarterback Joe Flacco, ultimately setting up a late-game Pittsburgh touchdown. Steelers win.

This past Sunday, Polamalu one-upped himself, accounting for two of the Pittsburgh’s three interceptions against his former USC roommate, Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer. His 45-yard touchdown return was crucial in a game in which Ben Roethlisberger and company couldn’t muster an offensive touchdown. Steelers win.

Anyways….Head & Shoulders has taken out a $1 million Lloyds of London insurance policy on their spokesman, Pittsburgh Steelers’ Troy Polamalu’s famous hair!
