McFarlane’s MLB Baseball Figures have been one of the studio’s most popular collections, bringing true-to-life renderings of some of the greatest players in the game, from the old days to the modern era of America’s Pastime. Now, in their 6-inch figure line, they’ve created for groups of team-specific figures that fans are sure to love! Check out these lineups!

Each 6-inch figure is dynamically posed on a section of the diamond and boasts an uncanny likeness to the player it represents–something that has become the hallmark of McFarlane toys in general. Each team can be purchased as a set or as individual figures if you’re a fan of one player in particular. They’re available for pre-order now and will be shipping in September!
McFarlane’s second series of College Football figures has arrived and is in stock! As usual, you can expect a high level of detail, brilliant painting and sculpting and excellent likenesses in these 6-inch sports figures. McFarlane has really come to excel in the action figure field, a little like the quality of a brand like Sideshow, but tending towards a much smaller (and more afforable!) size. Their sports figures have really been a great success for them, though, and it seems to be the most actively updated of the lines they offer. So here’s a look at the latest addition to the McFarlane sports family, the second series from College Football!
Well, I’ve just gotten back from San Diego and I’m very pleased to say that it was an absolute blast, if a little lighter on actual comic content than I’m used to. Really, though, I suppose it’s just the way of things that TV and movies seem to have officially taken precedence over the comic book stuff and at least it’s bringing people into the show where they’ll discover the stuff they might have missed out on! Plus, with movies like Red and shows like The Walking Dead, it’s further proof that there’s a symbiotic relationship between the media forms and that is definitely a good thing.
But without further ado, I’ll get to the meat of this post, THE PICTURES! Take a look at some of the cool items, set pieces and costumes from the biggest con in the world!

Now, it’s all well and good to sit back and remember the good old days of Terminator, but it seems that most are not content with what recent years have to offer and are looking for more. Specifically, a recent poll has indicated that fans want to see more Arnold Schwarzenegger! Here’s the story from The Coventry Telegraph:
WITH California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in action movie The Expendables in August and leaving office in January, fans are eagerly anticipating the actor’s return to the big screen.
Among his iconic previous roles was Conan, now being relaunched with Jason Momoa playing the barbarian, and as Major Dutch Schaeffer in 1987′s Predator. A new film in that franchise – Predators, starring Adrien Brody – is out in cinemas today.
To coincide with the release of Predators, MovieTickets.com asked filmgoers which role they would like the original star of Predator to reprise when he leaves office.
More than 30,000 fans weighed in, and 39 percent want to see Arnold, now 62, back at the box office as the Terminator.
The rights to the sci-fi series were bought by Santa Barbara-based hedge fund Pacificor for $29.5million in February.
Later that month, Willian Wisher, who scripted the first two films, revealed he had put together story outlines for a fifth and sixth film and had written in Schwarzenegger’s return in the sixth movie.
These are tentative story ideas by Wisher, who was publicising them in the hope of being hired as the screenwriter for future Terminator instalments.
Here are the poll results in full:
Which role do you want to see Arnold Schwarzenegger, star of the original Predator, re-visit when he leaves office?
The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired longtime Philadelphia Flyers forward Simon Gagne in exchange for defenseman Matt Walker and a fourth-round draft pick in 2011, the team announced Monday.
Gagne was drafted by the Flyers in 1998 and had played his entire career in Philadelphia. He has one year left on his contract, which will pay him $5.25 million.
“In adding Simon to the Lightning today, we acquire a very talented player that will play along side our top forwards,” Lightning vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman said. “With his combination of speed and skill we are excited to have him with us and grateful he was willing to waive his no-movement clause.
“This trade not only makes us a better team in the short term, it helps create long-term flexibility for us, which all along has been one of our top priorities.”
In 664 NHL games, Gagne has 259 goals and 265 assists. He ranks ninth on the Flyers’ career list in goals and 10th in points and games played. He had 17 goals and 23 assists in 58 games last season and added nine goals and three assists in 19 playoff games as Philadelphia reached the Stanley Cup finals before losing to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.
“I’m looking at this opportunity as a new challenge and a new start,” Gagne said. “I’m really looking forward to playing with guys like [Vincent] Lecavalier, [Steven] Stamkos and [Martin] St. Louis. I’m excited to be a member of the Lightning and I’m looking forward to starting next season in Tampa Bay.”
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Walker has played in 304 career regular season games over seven seasons. The 30-year-old Alberta native was originally selected by the St. Louis Blues in the third round of the 1998 draft.
Walker had two goals, three assists and 90 penalty minutes in 66 games last season with the Lightning. While with St. Louis, Chicago and Tampa Bay, Walker amassed four goals, 26 assists and 444 penalty minutes during his NHL career.
“We like the way Matt plays,” Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said. “He’s a character-intense player. He plays physical. He’s a stay-at-home guy that is a good penalty killer. On our team he can buy us dirty minutes and not be a liability, but be a positive force and help and defend our own zone.”
Walker said he has “always wanted to play in Philly” and that he would be a “good fit” with the Flyers.
“My initial reaction was pure excitement,” Walker said.
The 30-year-old Gagne led the Flyers in goals three times — including two 40-goal seasons — and twice in points. He was chosen as the team’s MVP in two seasons and was selected to the NHL All-Star game twice.
“Anytime you’re talking about a young man that has brought as much to the organization that Simon has, it’s very difficult,” Holmgren said of dealing Gagne.
Gagne, who scored a career-best 47 goals during the 2005-06 season, scored the winning goal in overtime of Game 4 against Boston in the second round and the decisive goal in Game 7 of that series to complete Philadelphia’s comeback from a 3-0 deficit.

And there’s still more good news for gamers in the form of an official release date for the upcoming Halo Reach. Here’s the word from PC Magazine:
“Halo: Reach” for the Xbox 360 will be released on September 14 worldwide, except for users in Japan, who will have to wait one more day for a September 15 release, Microsoft said Monday.
The news comes after a successful two-week beta testing period that saw 2.7 million “Halo” fans sign up to play. Players logged more than 16 million hours of online gameplay, which equals 1,826 years, and played more than 13 million online games.
The “Halo: Reach” beta, whick kicked off on May 3, was open to Xbox Live Gold account members who had the “Halo 3: ODST” campaign disc, and 1.2 G-bytes of free hard drive space.
Data and user feedback collected from the beta will be used by Microsoft and game developer Bungie to refine the game before its September release, Microsoft said.
“‘Halo: Reach’ is the culmination of a decade of ‘Halo,’ a franchise that has become a global entertainment and pop-culture touchstone,” Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, said in a statement. “Just as ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ catalyzed the success of the original Xbox to define a decade of entertainment, ‘Halo: Reach’ will push the boundaries for what’s possible in video games and help make 2010 the biggest year in Xbox history.”
Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop, said pre-orders for the game “have been off the charts.”
The standard edition of “Halo: Reach” will retail for $59.99, while limited and legendary editions will sell for $79.99 and $149.99, respectively. The legendary version includes a 10-inch, hand-painted statue of the Noble Team, the Spartan soldiers featured in the game.
North American fans who purchase the game in-store on launch day will receive a token that unlocks an exclusive in-game Spartan Recon helmet. Those outside North America can make a pre-order reservation at participating stores.

The 2010 playoffs are in full swing and Michael Cammalleri appears to the MVP candidate for this season. The Canadiens’ Michael Cammalleri has joined some select company with his playoff scoring binge, matching a mark set by some of Montreal’s greatest stars.
With seven goals in a seven-game victory over the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins, Cammalleri equaled a team record for tallies in a single playoff series shared by Maurice Richard (1944 and 1958), Jean Beliveau (1956), Bernard Geoffrion (1957), Guy Lafleur (1975) and Marcel Bonin (1959). All but Bonin are in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
And Cammalleri, who left the Calgary Flames last summer to sign with the 24-time Stanley Cup champions as a free agent, has a shot at making more history when Montreal moves into the conference final for the first time since 1993, the year of its last Stanley Cup conquest.
Here is a really kewl youtube video of Cammalleri as a Star Wars Jedi:

Signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jonas Gustavsson from Sweden could be the next superstar goalie in the NHL.
We’ve followed the guy from Farjestad and he was incredible in his last season in the Swedish league. He was like a freakin’ wall. Its different in the NHL but we will see how he adjust to the North American play. We had a good feeling when Lundqvist went over a couple years ago and we now have that same feeling now.
Here’s a little video clip of Jonas Gustavsson found on youtube:

This series includes Marion Barber (above), Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Romo, Eli Manning, Matt Ryan and Jason Witten, all standing about 6” tall atop specially designed display stands. As usual, you can expect to snag these both individually or as a set, the latter most popular among those looking to get their hands on variants and possible Collector Level figures. We’ll be sure to let you know on the site whether there’s more information about the rarer items.
They join the first series (Tom Brady, Ray Lewis, Peyton Manning, Hines Ward, Adrian Peterson and JaMarcus Russell) in our McFarlane NFL 6-inch figure collection!
